This post is dedicated to wolves everywhere, those purebred and those others who might be slightly more domesticated, but no less miraculous in nature... and especially for one furry one in particular, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night and now waits contentedly on the other side for those who will eventually follow.
We only have one week left to answer the wolf's "Mayday" distress call.
On May 9, time runs out for Americans to speak out for wolves and their continued protection under the Endangered Species Act.
In these last critical days of the public comment period, the NRDC Action Fund must build overwhelming opposition to a Bush Administration plan that could doom hundreds of wolves in Greater Yellowstone to a cruel and senseless death.
Please help give wolves a fighting chance at survival.
During this final week, we will escalate a massive campaign to rally hundreds of thousands of Americans to the cause of wolf protection before the crucial May 9 deadline.
We can do it -- but only with your generous financial support.
The wolf is the very icon of wildness in the American West. But if the Bush Administration has its way, hundreds of Rocky Mountain wolves will be left at the mercy of Wyoming and Idaho, which are seeking to permit the shooting of a majority of wolves in Yellowstone's wild country and central Idaho.
Thanks to the Endangered Species Act, wolves are howling again today in Greater Yellowstone. It was only 12 years ago that a female wolf gave birth to eight pups in the national park -- the first birth of a gray wolf in the park in 70 years!
We must not let the Bush Administration roll back the clock on wolves by depriving them of life-saving federal protection.
Click here now to answer the wolves' Mayday distress call -- while there is still time to shield them from extermination.
Sincerely,
Frances Beinecke
President
NRDC Action Fund

The one animal I would like to be. I would love to ba able to study the wolf in there own habitat. This has been my life long dream.
Wolves can be shot and killed in Montonna on sight if they are seen on ranches there. The owners complained they were losing live stock by the wolf back in 2001.
May God protect them. May man learn there stupidity before it is to late.
Yeah..i love Wolves too..they are awesome and quite beautiful...
Yes, Moosey, there is one "wolf" who will be sorely missed. I visited the NRDC website a couple of weeks ago and registered my comment.

I am a big fan of the NRDC's work, and have signed many petitions for them. This is just another great cause they are fighting for, and I back them all the way...
All animals are beautiful, including wolves!
I do have a question though, considering my last comment. Do you like ALL animals? Do you not mind spiders and snakes?
Just I can sincerely say I am thankful for all animals, they are here for a reason. But a spider or snake still scares me half to death!
Interesting topic to ask people I reckon, "Do you truly like all animals?" And "Would you save any animal, or is it only the 'cute' ones?"
Just a thought lol, I like getting into peoples minds so I can better understand human nature.
